Howdy Clubbers! Can you believe it is September already? Time
flies when you are getting old, or having fun, and I guess both apply
to me. The two biggest events of our year are behind us, THE RIVER
RALLY and JENSEN BEACH both of which were a great success.
Check out the website for all of the great pix of both events. There are
many new pix from Jensen Beach that have just been posted.

Our group has had a very safe and active year and we plan on that
trend to continue. With all of the rain over the last 5 or 6 weeks the
St John's is open everywhere. EXCEPT now there are many areas
clogged by hydrilla. Let me explain. Several of our clubbers, myself
included, ventured forth this past weekend on a surveillance mission to
see if we could make it down to the head waters of the St John's which
is called the stick marsh. It has been about 3 years since we had enough
water. We clearly have enough water but we were shut down about
half way by impassable hydrilla weeds which were clogging our route.
So we turned around and planned on heading north over the LAKE
WASHINGTON DAM. No dice. Again, the hydrilla have clogged an
area on the south side of the dam that was impossible to get through.
So, water water everywhere, but no place to ride!!! Hopefully some
airboats will pass through those clogs and they will create a natural flow.
We will keep you posted.

Don't forget our meeting on September 9th will begin at 6:30 and please
make note of our new digs-PIZZA GALLERY on the AVENUE AT
VIERA. Also note that our speaker is a very colorful character with
a wealth of local waterway knowledge-CAPT TOM MCGILL.
Bring any questions you may have from MANATEE counts to pending
boating legislation. He is a wealth of information and very interesting
to listen to. So new digs and a great speaker, let's hope for a big
turnout. We'll keep you posted with our future rides after our September
board meeting. Till then-RIDE SMART, RIDE SAFE-Curt
