Welcome to the month of May when a young man's fancy turns
to....jetskiing!!!!!!!! Well, probably after his fancy turns to girls
first. But hey this is a jetski article. May is known for May Day,
Cinco de Mayo, Mothers Day, Armed Forces Day, and Mother's
Day. And would you believe, World Asthma Day? You know I
don't make this stuff up. Well, we start the month on an up note.
We have eight new members since the first of the year and most
have been very active. We plan on an active month. We start
with our clean up at Pineda Boat Ramp followed by a ride some-
where. Now that it is warmer for us Florida Sissys we'll plan on
the clean up at 9:30 am and ride by 10. If winds are calm we'll
head south and maybe do lunch at RJ's or Hiram's. If it is windy
we'll just cruise around and try and find some smooth water and
have lunch at Conch Key Grill or Chowders.
Next up is our meeting on the 8th. William Roedder, Chief
Meteorologist at Patrick Airforce Base will be our speaker. He'll
speak mainly on lightning risks on the water complete with a power
point presentation. He'll also enlighten us on hurricane forecasting.
So put Tuesday's meeting on your schedule. Bring your check book
too if you haven't picked up your new SCJR apparel. KAREN
FLECKINGER is our new Apparel Chair so you can see her and get
your stuff if you pre-ordered or pick through the newly ordered
shirts and tank tops.
Then on May 11th we are planning on having a presence at FRIDAY
FEST. That is the Downtown Melbourne Fest where they close off
the streets and parteee!! MAUREEN LEMOS is putting the finishing
touches on those plans. We'll have a jetski and trailer plus a table and
we'll be handing out our brochures looking for new members. So we'll
need some volunteers to man the table from 7 to 10pm. Call Maureen
at 752 4169 or me at 591 6557. We only need a couple of folks to sit
at the table, hand out brochures and answer any questions.
We'll do a ride of some sort somewhere on the weekend of the 19th.
Stay tuned, we'll let you know. And it isn't too early to start planning
for our 2nd Annual RIVER RALLY. We've moved the date to June 9th.
It is a lot of fun and we would hate for you and your family to miss it.
More details to follow. RIDE SAFE, RIDE SMART-Curt
