Howdy fellow SCJR clubbers!!! Welcome to the warm wonderful
month of July! Everyone knows that we celebrate our Independence
on the 4th and the history behind that wonderful event. But did you
know that the 27th is National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day?
Of course you did. Well folks we hope to get a lot of riding in this month.
We already had our first ride Sunday the 1st. JOHN W put together an impromptu
get together by sending an email out on Saturday. We had 10 PWC and 12
riders and met two more PWC at the islands off Palm Bay. Quite a turnout
for short notice. We traveled from Ballard to RJ's for b'fast and spent
the day riding afterward. We traveled to the inlet and then out into the
ocean and watched and followed loggerhead turtles. Then back to the inlet
and hung there for awhile then started the journey back to Ballard by
stopping at the third island north of the power lines and hanging there
for awhile, arriving back at Ballard about 3 pm.
This Saturday the 7th will be our monthly clean up at SCJR park. I'm
try- ing to hook up with the power squadron to do courtesy checks of our
PWC for those that are interested. Our school teacher contingent has petitioned
for an early start. Since they are the most faithful about
showing up each month to do the clean up, I acquieced. So the clean up
is scheduled for 8:30 and we'll ride by 9. The ride will be determined
Saturday a.m. by those that show up. Perhaps we'll do a local ride if
it appears windy and do lunch at CHOWDERS or CONCH KEY INN. If it is flat
and the forecast is terrific we may head to parts unknown. JOHN W will
keep you updated with emails.
Please make plans for our meeting Tuesday the 10th. If you missed JIM
EGAN from the MARINE RESOURCE COUNCIL last month and
didn't hear the great presentation about the effect tsunamis would have
on Florida verses hurricanes then you have to come this month. Why? Cause
your humble President is a bit brain dead. I scheduled Jim for July but
forgot. I thought I had him scheduled for June. So now you get a second
chance to hear this really good presentation. Hope to see ya there.
Next up is LOVERS KEY on the 21st. If you need info or are curious contact
JOHN W at 321 720 9200 or jwilansky@aol.com.
And don't forget CARRIBEAN SHORES the first weekend in August. Make your
reservations now at CaribbeanShores.com or call 866 474 6737. You can
also contact JOHN W about this great adventure as well. Or come to the
meeting Tuesday nite and he'll tell you all you want to know about either
LOVERS KEY or CARRIBEAN SHORES in Jensen Beach.
That will about do it for this month's up to date news. We'll be in
contact throughout the month keeping you updated on our goings on. And
say a few prayers for me if you've a mind to for travel mercies. I'm heading
to Washington, DC Wednesday the 11th for the AWA FREEDOM RALLY. I plan
to visit several of the historic areas on my trip, like Jamestown and
Mt Vernon and any others I can fit in. Then on to the Delaware River and
the Jersey Shore to jetski some of my old favorite haunts and visit old
friends and relatives. Should be quite an adventure and I'm really looking
forward to it. So wish me well. Until next time...RIDE SAFE, RIDE SMART-Curt
