July 2006 Greetings to SCJR NATION!!! Welcome to July the month of Independence Day, National Cookout Day (we wouldn't kid you), and National Parents Day. Well we are greatful for and proud of our adventurous foursome returning from Bimini in good shape and good health. JOHN W wrote a great piece that he emailed to all. Hope you got a chance to read about their adventures and TIM MCKERCHER followed up with thoughts of his own. There seems to be growing interest from club members to do this trip next year. BRAD RIGGLE AND TIM MOBERLY were our other two adventurers that said that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Don't forget that we have a speaker at this month's meeting. WILLIAM ROEDER, meteorologist from Patrick AFB will be on hand to share an entertaining and scary look at lightning. He'll share pictures and stories of lightning tragedies and how you can protect yourself from being a statistic. Let's show up at Chowders and share a pleasant evening with fellow clubbers and show Mr Roeder we appreciate his taking an evening to be with us. Next up on the ride schedule is the RIVER RALLY at Rotary Park, US 1 in Suntree just north of Pineda Park. This RALLY will be lots of fun. Besides free hotdogs and chips several area PWC dealers have offered to bring some demo PWC for us to ride and try out. We'll have $100 first prize to the winner of the TRIVIA/SCAVENGER HUNT with lots of prizes, gift certificates and give a ways from area dealers and YAMAHA, SEA DOO, HONDA and HYDROTURF. JOHN KEREKES AND ALAN WHELPLEY have done a stellar job of putting together the TRIVIA RUN. They have excellent clues. So show up with your ski(you can't launch at Rotary Park), pay $10 for your entry fee, get your list of clues and set off to solve the mystery that awaits. Speed is not a factor only accuracy is. Rain or shine we're covered by the two southernmost pavillions at Rotary Park. We have over 150 feet of beach for parking skis and playing in the water. And the pavillions will keep us out of the sun or rain whichever the case may be. So your executive team of JOHN WILANSKY, TOM WILSON, JOHN KEREKES, FRAN MIRON, ALAN WHELPLEY and myself have worked overtime to put together a very special day for you our fellow clubbers. Hopefully we can attract some new members as well. Pre-registration by email to scjrnews@cfl.rr.com would be most helpful as to how much food we need. But you can register at the park on the 15th. Of course, if you don't want to do the TRIVIA RUN you can just show up with or without your ski and hangout and eat dogs or go ride for awhile or walk over to the new CONCH KEY INN for a lunch off the menu. Whatever you want to do, we've got you covered. So if for some reason you miss our meeting with the LIGHTNING SPECIALIST, we'll see you at ROTARY PARK on the 15th. RIDE SAFE, RIDE SMART-Curt |
