May 2006

Welcome to May the month of Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day and Mother's Day.
And don't forget the Kentucky Derby!!! It is also the month that SCJR will hit the
briny deep. Starting with our clean-up at our new location, the Pineda Park Boat
Ramp. For those of you who don't know the background of this endeavor, let me
explain. We do a public service and in return we get good publicity with boaters,
environmentalists, and the general public. Groups that all too often point fingers
at PWC riders and complain that WE are careless, reckless, idiots that should be
legislated off the water. So it is important that we continue this effort as a
positive image is of utmost importance to the continuing growth of our club and
our sport. So I hope to see you there. Back to riding the briny deep-the clean
up will be followed by a ride on the Indian River. The next day, Sunday May 7,
we will journey to Daytona and cruise the back country twisties with Capt Jules
Verne (aka Brad Riggle). A ride not to be missed.

Our next venture will be to Miami with Tim McKercher's PWC Rally Series the
weekend of the 20th. Visions of Miami Vice and CSI Miami are conjured up
when thinking about this venue. Miami's skyline will be the backdrop for
this event. This is a phenomal place for a PWC event and if at all possible
you should make every effort to be there. Check out the info online at
Florida Rally Series.

There are no other rides planned at this time for May, but with this group
you never know. We will keep you posted.

The AWA is in the process of sending out roughly 1500 cards to area members
notifying them of our existence and that we are looking for members. The cards
will point out our riding areas and our website. So hopefully we can get some
new members to go out and have fun riding with. Also, our color membership
brochures, designed by Alan Whelpley will be going to press shortly. We have
fully funded the expense by selling ad space. We need to stress support for
our ad sponsors because they have stepped up to support our effort to grow.
Our paid sponsors are Tim McKercher-Florida Rally Series; Chowders Restaurant;
Mortgage Crafters; Ferguson's Trailer Repairs and Supplies; Atlass Insurance;
John Wilanski-Good Guys Autosales; and last but not least Curt and Linda Smith-Maaco Collision Center. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all that have helped in
this effort to help us grow.

Our meeting at Chowders set for Tuesday the 9th wll be primarily focused on
putting together a picnic for the summer with some added twists to make
things interesting. So plan on being there to share some time with fellow
clubbers and get filled in with the lastest goings on in the world of SCJR.
Of course we will also address our June ride schedule along with our 50/50
with lots of additional prizes courtesy of AWA. Our June meeting will
feature William Roeder as our speaker. Bill is a meteorologist at Patrick
Air Force Base and he puts on quite an entertaining show. With thunderstorm
season approaching, his message will be about protecting yourself from
lightning particularly on the water.

So, as usual, your club is up to lots of stuff. Come to the rides, come to
the meetings and be a part of it. Support the Sport. IF NOT YOU, WHO?
Ride safe, ride smart.

Curt
