March 2006

Welcome to March the month of St. Patrick's Day and of course the first day of Spring. Ah Spring, when a young mans fancy turns to....JETSKIING!!!!! Young girls too.
Here in Florida we are lucky enough to jetski all year with a few chilly morning postponments in January and February. But those that aren't hardy enough to brave a few 65 to 70 degree rides in winter cherish March as the beginning of their ride season. And boy do we have rides planned. Your Executive Board has put their heads together and come up with some exciting venues, some new and some old, that will take us all the way to October. Basically we hope to have rides planned twice a month, weather permitting of course. VP John Wilansky and Event Chair Fran Miron are working diligently to keep us active and having fun. Check out the website by the middle of March to get an idea of future events so you can start making plans — or come to the meeting Tues the 8th and get all the juicy details in person.

Speaking of the website, be sure and check it out on a regular basis for updates on rides and events. Sherri Shields is doing a great job of posting new info and Secretary Tom Wilson is doing a stellar job presenting the minutes in an easy to read format so you can keep up with the meetings even if you can't attend.

Our March meeting should be an interesting one. Along with all of the ride info, we will discuss the current status of the manatee issue and where we expect it is going from here. We still have select SCJR t-shirts at the ridiculously low price of $5 and long lasting rash guards for half of what you can pay for them retail at a surf shop. Our Treasurer, John Kerekes, will have updates on our membership growth and Alan Whelpley will have our latest and greatest edition of the trifold membership brochures. We will also have some new info regarding our Keep Brevard Beautiful campaign. Last but not least, we are going to have fellow clubber Lou Lemire as our guest speaker. His topic will be a timely one. He is going to go over the dos and don'ts of preparing for the upcoming season. What you'll need to know to get your trailer and PWC ready to rock and roll.

So come on out to the meeting if you can and share some time with your fellow clubbers, get some good deals on SCJR apparel, and catch up on all of the latest news in the world of SCJR. And show Lou that you appreciate the fact that he is willing to share of his time and talents to promote the club and to help us get ready to ride.

SUPPORT THE SPORT. If not you, then who?

Curt Smith
