Meeting Minutes — August 2005
Tuesday, August 9, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. by Secretary Tom Wilson, ( President, Farieda Reardon, could not make it due to illness in the family.) There were 14 members present, 1 guest and two children. An announcement was made to welcome new members Robert and Dawn Laidlow and their son Ian from parish Fla. They sent in a check and will try to stop by our picnic to introduce themselves.

OLD BUSINESS:
Cleanup was done by Patty, Janielle, Farieda and John on the usual first Saturday of the month, all were reminded by Patty that we have rash guards, shirts, hats, etc.

NEW BUSINESS:
Christmas parade on water in Ft. Lauderdale at night was discussed again, Tim Mckercher reminded all that this parade on the water is much bigger than anything you have ever seen and our participation would be an experience of a lifetime.

Tampa club trying to start up wants to use some of our ideas, code of ethics, etc. Asking permission, no objections seem to be evident by any members.

PRESIDENT REPORT:
Tom Wilson ran the meeting and spoke on the purpose of the club to give riders of personal watercraft an opportunity to meet others with the same common interest and enable us to ride together and share experiences.

V.P. REPORT:
(Not present; has anyone seen Rick?)

TREASURER REPORT:
Patty circulated treasury report for review and discussed monthly updates. She also sent the current membership status report around the room for all to initial and update, collected some more dues. She is sending out reminders quarterly for dues.

EVENT COORDINATOR:
Ride coordinator Fran Miron reminded all of rides/trips coming up. Next up is our picnic this Sunday, August 14th at 10:00am at Lake Washington with pavilion rented and boat ramp and playground at our disposal. There will be a ride at 11:00 and 1:00 and lunch at noon.

October 8th will be the date for a weekend trip to the Suwannee at Yellow Jacket Campground. More info will be emailed out as that date gets closer.

Ride reports were given by John Wilanski of the trip to Jensen Beach that sounded fantastic. Andy Ziegler commented on how great the Lovers Key trip was last month and Patty reported on Saturday's ride to Captain Hirams where she bought lunch and drinks for all the club members that attended. You should have been there.

WEBMASTER:
Sherri announced that she is still in need of photos from recent trips and events to post on the website. She also brought a draft of the flyer in for review and input.

SECRETARY REPORT:
Tom Wilson (myself) was present and presented the minutes from July for review. A motion was made to accept the minutes. As always, Sherri has posted them on the web so we are reminded to check them out in case you miss a meeting or want to review.

LEGISLATIVE REPORT:
None.

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
Lou presented a member spotlight on Terry Hargraves from Indialantic, born in South Florida, loves overnight jetski trips the most, and likes the people she has met in the club. She works at Holmes Regional Medical Center and was selected for Nurse of the Year for the Southeast region.

GUEST SPEAKER:
Lou Lemire spoke on watercraft maintenance, shared with us products he likes to use: Lexall protectant for seat, ring free additive for gas to keep carbon deposits down, reminded all to wax your hull top and sides to protect from sun and water damage and keep it looking nice, and use the grade of gasoline recommended by your manufacturer. The only time he uses higher octane fuel is to mix with current fuel if it has been sitting and has lost some octane. Great tips. Thanks, Lou.

Tim McKercher, also a member, and president of Watertop Inc. spoke about his upcoming rally series event in September at Amelia island. He told us of how much fun the series has been so far. Check out http://www.floridarallyseries.com/ for more info. He also gave a great report on a recent trip on Fontana Lake in North Carolina. The 29-mile long, man-made lake that's part of the Tennessee Valley Authority gives boaters a unique perspective of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. For more info, http://www.greatsmokies.com/fontana.asp. If you can find a way to attend one of these events, you won't be sorry.

ADJOURNMENT
