Meeting Minutes — June 2005
Tuesday, June 14, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President, Farieda Reardon. There were 15 members present.

OLD BUSINESS:
Reminders from officers: club needs more support by members at cleanups, rides, etc. Still need to complete the newsletter to pass out to the dealers.

Picnic dates were brought up again as a reminder to all, next one being sunday, July 10th on a private area in Geneva. Contact Paul Malloy at prmalloy@earthlink.net for info or directions. Limited camping available on site. Same menu as Sebastian — club to provide main courses, everyone to bring a dessert or hors d'oeuvres.

NEW BUSINESS:
Christmas parade on water in Ft. Lauderdale at night was discussed and our participation was voted on to see who would be interested. Farieda to follow up on. Several members brought up that if it could be done there, why not here in Merritt Iisland? Cold, windy, wet, 12 mile idle ride had some opposition.

Rashguard order discussed again, a show of hands prompted Farieda to increase the order for both long sleeve and short sleeve articles, so make sure you jump on them when they come in. They will be royal blue with white club logo.

PRESIDENT REPORT:

Farieda reminded all members that we can all promote the club, give out the website address to prospective members, answer questions of what we are about, etc. Club is like a marriage, we will not all get along with everyone all of the time but we all share a common goal of friendship, common interest of riding personal watercraft and promoting responsible riding and respecting the environment. We need to try and participate as much as we can.

V.P. REPORT:
Rick was there. No report but was on stand by if needed.

TREASURER REPORT:
Patty could not attend but report was passed around for review.

EVENT COORDINATOR:
Ride Coordinator Fran Miron reminded all of rides/trips coming up. Saturday, June 25th , a ride is set up for Silver Springs, July 22nd is Lovers key, the Jensen Beach run is still on for Friday, August 5th.

October 8th will be the date for a weekend trip to the Suwanee River at Yellow Jacket Campground. More info will be emailed out as that date gets closer.

Lou Lemire will be leading a ride on Saturday, June 18th at 9:30 from Lone Cabbage to Lake Washington and back. (Note: The ride was a great success, 10 boats made the trek with 3 more intersecting along the way from the reverse ride. I only know this because I was there in the future and then came back to write up the minutes in the past tense. Try to keep up with me.)

WEBMASTER:
Sherri announced that she has lots of photos going up on the web; she has also started a rough draft of the newsletter.

SECRETARY REPORT:
Tom Wilson ( myself ) was present and presented the minutes from both April and May for review, although they have been posted on the web.

Also mentioned was my very positive experience of a new personal watercraft purchase at Champion Honda. They have always supported our club and I wanted to thank them. Mike Marconi ( manager ) and sales staff ( Rob and Scott ) were very friendly — no pressure, anything they could do to help me with my decision whether I bought from them or elsewhere. I got a great deal, great craft and excellent treatment before, during and after the sale. Don't mean to make this a commercial for them but cannot say enough good things about the entire experience and everyone I came in contact with at their store. Remember to support them and all other vendors and sponsors that support our club ( see the list on the website ).

Reminder that if you have questions or need advice, use the club e-mail directory for help. I received a great deal of input when I asked for opinions on watercraft selection, extended warranty advice, etc. Like they say, you get more out of this club by being involved or using its resources.

LEGISLATIVE REPORT:
Curt Smith said that the signs in the Indian River Lagoon are coming up for review; some may come down; money for enforcement is down and more emphasis is being put on our roadways than waterways. Since we promote responsible riding, we don't see this as a negative issue for us as a club and the less objects sticking out of the water the better.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:

Lou gave a report on John Shields, a four-year member. He randomly picked a number from our roster and John was the lucky duck. Questions answered by John from Lou's inquiry gave a glimse into Johns life and we all gave input for future questions for other members. Good job Lou!

Lou also gave a report from the Rally at Hiram's. Tim did a great job putting this on; our own Tony came in 6th place in the poker run; Weather was great — Sunday was glassy. Several SCJR members attended or visited the rally.

GUEST SPEAKER:
No guest speaker was present.

ADJOURNMENT
A good time was held by all. Very productive and informative meeting was adjourned by Farieda at 8:05 pm. If you were not able to attend, please try to attend next time.
