Minutes — June 2004
Tuesday,
June 8, 2004
The meeting
was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President, Rick Charshafian. There
were 26 members present. There were four new members, Dale and Janet from
Merritt Island and Todd and Christine from St. Cloud. Rick welcomed the
new members as well as the group from Champions, Jake, Rob, Bryan, Mark,
and Beth.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Rick reviewed the times and details for 1st Saturday rides and park cleanup.
Rick reviewed the past Saturday clean up and ride. The sale of club shirts
has been good, and shirts will be offered at the upcoming (June 12) club
picnic.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Rick announced that Yamaha is a new sponsor of SCJR Club activities. They
will be placing ads in the newsletter as well as sending the club a banner,
hats, shirts to give away at the picnic.
PRESIDENT
REPORT:
President, Rick Charshafian, welcomed the guests at the meeting including
the group from Champion Honda and the guest speaker from Grant Motor Sports.
Rick announced the names of new members, and resigned members. Rick passed
out the 4-way test used by Rotarians and suggested it would be a good
guideline for the membership to follow.

REPORT:
Vice President, Andy Ziegler, covered the details of the upcoming club
picnic, June 12. Andy reminded the membership that all are welcome at
the picnic–members and non-members. He requested members to promote
membership of the club. Andy encouraged the membership to thrive through
volunteering and communication. Andy also encouraged all members to send
out an e-mail to other members if you are going out for a ride.
TREASURER
REPORT:
Treasurer, John Kerekes, was not present.
EVENT
COORDINATOR:
Event Coordinator, John Reardon, was not present.
WEB
MASTER:
Web Master, Sherri Shields, had no report. However, President Rick Charshafian,
commended Sherri on a great job and great looking web site.
SECRETARY
REPORT:
Minutes were

REPORT:
Legislative Advocate, Curt Smith, not present.

Newsletter
Chairperson has requested ideas for articles from the general membership.
None have been forthcoming. There was discussion from the floor regarding
how to generate articles of interest for the newsletter. The club anticipates
cooperation from some of the dealers regarding informational articles
to include in newsletter.
GUEST
SPEAKER :
John
Chase of Grant Motors Sports in Grant was the guest speaker. He spoke
about recent Florida legislation, various rides, safe boating and clean
waterways. He covered extended warranties, and volunteered his help to
anyone having trouble getting through to the manufacturer. He announced
that they have recently become a SeaDoo dealer, but still service all
models. They have a new facility that took a year to complete, but they
are now located 15 minutes south of 192 and 7miles from the inlet on US1.
Rick announced the date of the next Board of Directors Meeting, and he
encouraged all members to attend. He also announced that Culligan donated
the bottled water for the club picnic, and Polaris donated items for the
raffle at the Club picnic.
There was no 50/50.
