Meeting Minutes — April 2004

Tuesday, April 13, 2004
Meeting called to order at 7:15 by President, Rick Charshafian. There were 13
members present. There were no guests introduced.

PRESIDENT REPORT:
President, Rick Charshafian, opened the meeting with a welcome to all present. He announced there would be no guest speaker this month, but Lou Lemireis going to do a presentation about trailers next month.

V.P. REPORT:
Vice President was not present. Therefore, there was no report for April.

SECRETARY REPORT:
Last meeting minutes were on web-site. Request made for approval. MOTION: To accept minutes as printed. PASSED. Had a meeting of the nominating committee in December.

TREASURER REPORT:
John passed around the Treasurer Report for review by the members present at meeting.
Treasurer’s report was approved.

EVENT COORDINATOR:
Next ride May 1st to Captain Hirams. Clean-up at 9:30, ride starts at 10:00
May 15, 16 - St. Petersburg
June 19, 2004 will be the Poker Run to Stuart
July 16, 17, 18, 2004 - Lover’s Key, Fort Myers. Link to our website to make hotel reservations.

WEB MASTER:

NEWSLETTER CHAIRPERSON:
Minutes were approved.

LEGISLATIVE REPORT:
No report.

OLD BUSINESS:
Rick presented a copy of the Florida Today article covering the ride of March 14, 2004. Rick felt it was a good article with appropriate photo coverage. Rick felt the article presented the club in a positive light and being a diverse club.

Jet Sport Magazine went all the way to Captain Hirams with the club. However some riders stopped at the island for a while and went back as the water was very rough. Sherry mentioned she had the privilege of seeing the layout. There were multiple pictures - 3 pages, 9 pictures per page.

The club received publicity in this month’s WaterCraft Magazine, in an article entitled
“Moving on Down” WaterCraft magazine recommended our club website to a reader in Kansas City as a good source for travel/jet ski itinerary while traveling to Florida. SCJR was profiled as one of the top jet ski clubs in the country.

The March 4, 2004 Park Clean-up and ride had 22 skis.

NEW BUSINESS:
Discussion between President and the floor regarding the club newsletter, advertising, and local watercraft dealers’ sponsorship of the club. A Club member or officer should be responsible for delivering the Club Newsletter to local watercraft dealers. The dealers should be providing their customers with the Club’s Newsletter, fliers and Club Membership Applications.

It was decided that the Newsletter is the backbone of the club, and should be continued on a consistent schedule. The club will be seeking volunteers to provide articles for the Newsletter. Also, will be seeking volunteers to write down their thoughts after each ride to be incorporated into Newsletter.

Farieda volunteered to contact specific watercraft dealers to encourage a sponsorship/advertising relationship with the Club. Farieda also volunteered to seek sponsorships for the picnic and other events.

Attempts will be made to locate the Club Banner.

Vice President will make arrangements for the Sebastian picnic on 5/22/04, and he will also secure the pavilion. The Club is seeking a volunteer to chair this event.

May 8, 2004 Ride - Park clean-up at 9:30 a.m.
Jet Ski in water by 9:30 a.m.
Ride begins at 10:00 a.m.

The next board meeting will be May 5, 2004 at the RoadHouse restaurant on Evans Road. This meeting is open to the general membership.

Discussion from the floor about the importance that the club members be diligent in portraying us and our Club in a positive way while participating in rides and events.

The Secretary will inform the membership of Meeting dates and time a few days before the monthly meetings via e-mail.
