Meeting Minutes August ‘07
Tuesday, August 14, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Self appointed Sgt. At Arms Tim Moberly introducing the ever so polished President Curt Smith at chowders restaurant in Melbourne and 19 members and 1 guest were present..Yours truly, Tom Wilson, blurted out “ its my birthday tonight” before Pres Curt smith could announce it. I have no patience!
GUEST SPEAKER: El Presidente gave and excellent slide show and report from his trip on the freedom ride in Washington D.C. Over 140 participants were there and our club got some pretty good publicity from Curt being there. He also told us that he was well received, many had heard of the SCJR. The Delaware River, the Washington monument, the Lincoln memorial and Ft. Washington are just a few of the American landmarks visited by a SCJR watercraft and the number of AWA freedom riders present hopefully will help protect our right to ride in the future

.
OLD BUSINESS: none

NEW BUSINESS : Discussed the hot topic of riding over the Dam and whether or not it is permissible. More research to follow. Everyone was asked not to be so argumentative on group emails, keep them polite or keep them private. Also, we are going to pitch in and help clean up spoil islands in grant on September 15th for the KBB / FPL coastal cleanup.

PRESIDENT REPORT: Discussed group riding and proper etiquette of keeping an eye on the rider behind you, don’t leave anyone behind.

V.P. REPORT: .John W. spoke about upcoming rides and gave a report on our recent ventures to lovers key and Jensen beach. John also reminded all about the upcoming cleanup , Some riders going to Capt. Hirams over labor day and encouraged ride ideas to be posted via email.

TREASURER REPORT: John circulated latest report, discussed the St. Johns declining water level

.
EVENT COORDINATOR: handled by the V.P. above

WEBMASTER: Chris , our webmaster, was present. He DOES EXIST, and we recognized and thanked him for what he has been doing for us. I had never met Chris, just heard about this “Webmaster” but I knew he had to be real, Curt can run a paint shop ( or at least I know his wife can ) , and does a pretty fair job of running the jet ski club he helped build, but I don’t think he could build and run a website like ours. Thanks again Chris, keep up the good work.

SECRETARY REPORT: I circulated the minutes from July for review and approval. I also asked present members to thank or blame Farieda, former president of the club, for helping secure my services for the secretary position a couple years ago and reminded all that elections will be coming up in a couple of months and my seat is up for grabs. These are supposed to be “minutes” but once I get warmed up it is hard to stop. Need to elect someone who can “ brief “ them up a bit.
Member spotlight: , John and Sharon Horseman have ridden so much as new members attending a pwc rally in Fernandina beach, lovers key and the recent trip to Jensen beach and back that they flat wore out the motor on their seadoo and may be in the market for a new motor or a new ski. They brought some info on the beautiful surroundings and accommodations at Fernandina and invited all of us to join a ride up their in October.

50/50 drawing: My son Josh .was unalble to make the meeting so my daughter Jennifer sold $32 in tickets, $16 went to the winner, Tim Moberly ( second time in 3 months) Sharon won a t-shirt, Tim won some gloves, Jennifer won a shirt and a pwc magazine. Once again, Dad got hosed, nothing again.
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 8:10pm.
