Meeting Minutes - September '06

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:13 p.m. by President Curt Smith at
chowders restaurant in Melbourne and 12 members were present.

GUEST SPEAKER: .Our own Tim Mckercher gave an interesting dialogue on one
of his adventures in the past, boating magazine accompanied him and 2 other
riders on a jet ski run from Alaska to Russia across the bearing straits.
They left the whale hunting village with a warm front of 32 degrees air temp
and a steaming 35 degrees water temp. Siberia is just plain hot this time of
year. Sorry if you weren't at the meeting, you missed quite a story. Tim has
gone on some great trips but this one ranks up there in his top five. This
trip was two years in the making but what a ride.

OLD BUSINESS: Passed out more brochures, dues prices were discussed in
relation to gaining or not gaining new members

NEW BUSINESS: discussed new ski lines coming out, rumours floating of whos
doing what, 90 % of new skis sold are 3 seaters

PRESIDENT REPORT: introduced 3 new members ( the Fleckinger family ),
welcomed them to their first meeting, they already attended one of our
rides.

V.P. REPORT: .Not present, emergency came up

TREASURER REPORT: Not present

EVENT COORDINATOR: Not present, ( do you see a trend here? ) Frans
tigershark had a terminal illness and we will probably not see it riding
with the club anymore. Hopefully a replacement could bring Fran back out
soon.

WEBMASTER: Chris could not be here so curt gave a report on website. We had
made the switch to a new server or provider ( I don't know what they are
called, I have enough trouble just typing this stuff up ) and we have had
over 2000 hits in the 1st 10 days.

SECRETARY REPORT:

Tom Wilson ( myself ) was present and for the first time in two years did
not circulate copies of the minutes ( never made it home from work before
the meeting , a likely excuse) but I gave a quick synopsis and those who
have read them on the web voted to approve them and move on.

Member spotlight: None

50/50 drawing: None

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 8:13pm, food was good, Tim's ride
report from above the arctic circle was great, member attendance needs
improvement. Next month will have discounted food specials so be there.
