Meeting Minutes — April 2006
Tuesday, April 11, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President Curt Smith at Chowders restaurant in Melbourne. There were 18 members present. Baxter and Jerry Gardner also attended; they joined four or five years ago and they were the ones responsible for having our banner printed.

OLD BUSINESS:
A report was given about this month's Cleanup done by four members of the club on the usual first Saturday of the month at our new adopted park at the Pineda boat ramp. Four bags of trash were collected and disposed of, but only one member, Jim Wade, showed up with his pwc to ride. We need to let each other know by responding to the emails who is planning on riding so that no one is surprised.

NEW BUSINESS:
Selling advertising space on our new trifold handout was discussed. Watertop Unlimited committed to two $100 spots, Ferguson Auto Parts will take one $100 spot, that leaves one more $100 spot available and one large $350 spot. If anyone is interested contact Curt Smith.

A 50/50 drawing was held and John Shields was the lucky winner of the cash and several others won some t-shirts and other prizes. $26.00 was raised for the club.

A motion was made to purchase four " grabbers" to assist in picking up cigarette butts and other small items at the club clean-up.

PRESIDENT REPORT:
Curt announced that we are giving the Orlando PWC club an honorary membership into our club and vise versa to increase the ride potential for all and give everyone more options by attending both clubs functions.

Curt also thanked Tom Wilson for helping him install our Keep Brevard Beautiful adopt a shore sign at the Pineda boat ramp and our treasurer John K. for putting two SCJR stickers on the sign to brighten it up.

V.P. REPORT:
John Wilansky was on-hand to go over special events coming up and announced that he has been coordinating between the Orlando club and us on rides and outings so that we are all informed and invited.

TREASURER REPORT:
John Kerekes circulated the latest treasury report for all to inspect, reminded all of
t-shirts and rash guards at discounted prices.

EVENT COORDINATOR:
Fran Miron was present and discussed the upcoming events: River Ranch, Daytona, Camp Armo, etc. He announced that several of the SCJR members went to the Orlando St. Augustine picnic and ride while some of us did the clean-up.

WEBMASTER:
Sherri Shields was not able to attend but her husband John and two boys were present and John said she is updating the website with biography info and pictures from our officers.

SECRETARY REPORT:
Tom Wilson (myself) was present and circulated a couple copies of the minutes from last month's meeting for approval. I also reported that I did another clean-up at the park tonight and will turn in a report to KBB trying to get us as much recognition as possible.

LEGISLATIVE REPORT:
None.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
None.

GUEST SPEAKER:
Gave Russell Jaimeson from Atlas Insurance (formerly of Florida Hi-way and Marine) gave a very informative talk on insurance for boats and pwc's. He explained the basics on what is covered by certain types of insurance, guidelines on how to determine how much coverage you should buy and how the laws and policies are drastically changing recently.

Many companies are leaving Florida quickly, as far as marine coverage goes, and our choices are disappearing fast.

Having good coverage with a reputable company can make the difference between you keeping and losing your personal assets should something happen on the water, so be protected.

Pres Curt Smith thanked Russell for visiting us and many members asked him great questions for even more information.

Tim McKercher from Watertop Unlimited was also present and gave a report from his first leg of the Fla Rally Series in St. Pete. He said it was very successful and fun, and several SCJR members attended for a strong showing.

ADJOURNMENT
Meeting was adjourned at 8:18pm. President Curt Smith thanked all who attended and reminded all to encourage other members to attend future meetings.

Tom Wilson, secretary
