| Have Jet Ski will ride. That should be our mantra. Cause that's what we do. Saturday March 27th we launched at Lake Washington with 6 stout and hardy clubbers and a friend and headed south with winds blowing 10-15 and temps in the low 70's. The sun was bright and so were our expectations. We navigated through some light chop on the lake and then had smooth sailing the rest of the day. The narrow width of the St John's makes wind a non factor. Depth of water can be a problem but with all of the rain this winter we were able to enjoy a rare winter's treat of riding all the way down to the Stick Marsh where the river begins, roughly 28 miles south of Lake Washington. After eating our packed lunches and watching the curious gators swimming by we headed back, arriving back at the ramp about 2:30 pm. Sunday presented itself with somewhat nastier conditions. Gray and windy was the order of the day for those brave enough to support and participate in the Easter Egg Island Hop benefiting "Autism Speaks." WILLIE and KELLIE and their crew from ROUTE 1 MOTORSPORTS were the happy hosts of our day on the water. Everyone zipped around hopping from island to island, navigating the one to three foot waves, to find eggs laid about by the bunny. Each egg contained a raffle ticket. After all the eggs were picked up, riders returned to Treasure Coast Marine for burgers and potato salad and chips. The raffle tickets were pulled at random and winners picked up the goodies ranging from wet suits to rubber bumpers and ball caps. SCJR members present were TIM MOBERLEY, RICHARD ARKIN, DENISE BOHLAND, and CAPT CURT. The Orlando Watercrafters Club was well represented with 9 members. All in all everyone had a great time and a great day was had by all. Thanks to WILLIE and KELLIE for all of their efforts and a repeat of sorts is already in the planning stages for later in the summer. |
