| Howdy y'all-just a quick note about our Kissimmee River Ride. I awoke about 5 am on Saturday and met up with TINY TIM , BROOKS and BEVERLY JONES, and ROWDY RODDEY at Sam's on 192 and we departed for parts far far away at 6:45 in the am. One hundred and three miles later we met up with BRAD GILBERT (aka Capt Nemo) and his girlfriend BONNIE at Rt 70 and the Kissimmee to start a terrific day of JETSKIING!!!! We had great weather to explore the lower reaches of the river. We headed north from our launch and went through 2 locks. We were then treated to some of the best high speed twisties I've ever experienced. It was just absolutely great. Much like the St Johns north of Lone Cabbage but much more intense. Mile after mile of twists and turns, enough to almost make you dizzy. On the ride we met up with one of BRAD"S riding friends from the west coast, Jim. Jim has a souped up Yamaha SUV that sounds like a dragster at the track. Ninety miles of riding was capped off by dinner at Lightsey's Restaurant on the north end of Lake Okeechobee. We arrived back at the ramp in the dark. Think we maxed out our riding time? Yep, we squeezed every bit of daylight out of our ride. So we left Melbourne in the dark and after 92 miles on the water and 206 miles round trip to get to and from our riding destination I walked back in my house in the dark at 8:45 Saturday night, tired but electrified after a great day of riding. I did this ride the first and only time 5 years ago with BRAD back in March of '04. As BROOKS said afterward, "I hope we don't have to wait another 5 years to do it again." I'll second that.-Capt Curt |
